The Windows of Rowan LeCompte at Washington National Cathedral
A project for Peter Swanson, president of Global Visions and Associates, Inc., and author of Rowan LeCompte, Master of Stained Glass. This 50" 4K touchscreen application utilizes ultra-high resolution images Peter shot of the stained glass windows in the Washington National Cathedral that Rowan LeCompte created. The application lets you zoom out to see the entire stained glass window or zoom in to see the details, and sometimes even the bubbles in the glass, that might be 80 feet above.
Originally featured at a UN International Year of Glass event, the kiosk now resides in the Washington National Cathedral.
BBarton was responsible for interface and application development as well as consulting on kiosk hardware and design. BBarton contracted Troy Robinson for the creation of the interface graphics.Geothermal: The Heat Beneath Your Feet
This application was created for Boise WaterShed Exhibits and is on display at The WaterShed exhibit hall in Boise, ID (closed until fall 2024 for new installation).
Spin the earth and zoom into key areas to learn about the many aspects of geothermal energy and the nation's largest geothermal heating utility.
BBarton was resonsible for interface concept and application development--hiring Troy Robinson (rcpongo) for the 3D artwork and interface graphics. BBarton contracted Kari Ahlstrand for video editing under the overall video oversight of Peter Swanson of Global Visions and Associates, Inc.Geothermal Photo Booth
BBarton came up with the exhibit concept for this one! The exhibit features an anomorphic 3D painting, by famed artist Joe Hill, that features a geothermal well, a geothermal heating system, and the Boise skyline. Visitors trigger a photo booth kiosk and then get into position about to fall into the depths of the well as a photo is taken. The photos were automaically uploaded to the cloud and visitors could use a QR code to download them for keeping and sharing.
This exhibit was on display at The WaterShed Education Center from 2007 – 2023.
BBarton created the concept and developed the kiosk application hiring Johnathan Kuehl of BlooVooDoo Studio for interface graphics and character illustrations.FlushMapper
When you flush, where does it go?
In Boise, ID, you can actually follow the path that flush takes from your house to a water renewal facility!
The concept for this one already existed (New Water ReSources, NWR is now part of ASTOUND Group), however it consisted of only about 8 different aerial images of Boise. BBarton took a couple hundred of the City's high resolution aerial images and created over 20,000 GIS images at eight different levels of zoom. When you flush, the application draws out the route of the actual water return pipes from individual houses and buildings to water renewal facilities.
Mystery solved!
This exhibit will be back on display at The WaterShed Education Center when they reopen Fall 2024.
